Total sales amounted to 13.26 million mt compared with 11.2 million mt in the first half of calendar 2010. Coal & Allied said output at its Hunter Valley operations in New South Wales recovered strongly in the second quarter after low levels of blasted material hampered first-quarter production. These operations produced the highest quarterly output in five years at 3.26 million mt in the three months to the end of June. Production at the Mt. Thorley Warkworth mines was hampered by wet weather in June.
