Jeffrey Bitzer has been appointed vice president of operations for United Coal Company.


The National Mining Association (NMA) board of directors elected a new slate of officers for the two-year term 2010-2012. The new officers are Chairman Greg Boyce, chairman and CEO, Peabody Energy; Vice Chairman Frank McAllister, chairman and CEO, Stillwater Mining; President Hal Quinn, president and CEO, NMA; Treasurer Roger Roberts, senior vice president, NMA; Secretary Bruce Watzman, senior vice president, NMA; and Asst. Secretary Katie Sweeney, general counsel, NMA.


Godwin Pumps has appointed Per Ohstrom vice president of worldwide marketing and business development. The company also announced Joseph L. Abbott Jr., national sales manager, recently passed away. Joining the Godwin Pumps team in 1989, Abbott helped build Godwin’s distribution network throughout the United States and Canada. He served as a member of NASSCO for more than 20 years, also as a director. He was also a member of the American Rental Association, the National Mining Association, the North American Society of Trenchless Technology, the Water Environment Federation and the National Utilities.
