In November 2010, Centennial ceased discussions over an estimated $60 million deal with Delta Electricity after failing to agree on price. Centennial supplies more than 40% of the state’s power generation needs and was pushing to renew coal supply contracts at prices closer to export prices. The Thai energy group Banpu, which took over Centennial shortly after the talks failed late in 2010, has now expressed a commitment to renegotiate with NSW electricity generators.
