Speed Sensor Mounts on Multiple Idler Styles
Superior Industries has added a new speed sensor to its conveyor component accessories offering. The device monitors the speed of a conveyor belt by producing electronic pulses interpreted by a PLC or a Superior Speed Sensor module. The unit’s sensors help operators control conveyor shutdowns, monitor belt slippage and trigger warning systems. Fitted for CEMA C and D idlers, Superior Speed Sensors are available for belt widths ranging from 24 inches (in.) to 72 in. and are protected by a two-year components warranty. They can be mounted on a clean side roll, return roll or troughing wing roll.

Linear Position Sensor
The GEMCO 958A embedded Linear Displacement Transducer (LDT) was designed specifically with the needs of the mobile hydraulics market in mind. The rugged, rod style LDT is designed to fit entirely inside a hydraulic or clevis style cylinder and provide absolute analog feedback in the most-demanding applications and extreme operating environments. It offers accuracy and reliability with high resolution and precision repeatability. The embedded LDT is totally installed inside the cylinder, which protects the transducer from outside conditions. It uses the latest generation of field-proven magnetostrictive position-sensing technology to give absolute analog position, accurate to 0.04% of the programmable sensing distance. A variety of analog outputs are available.

Rexnord Launches Digital Productivity Initiative
Rexnord recently announced its DiRXN (pronounced “direction”) initiative — its new digital productivity platform based on the integration of innovative Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and e-commerce technologies with its leading portfolio of tools, products and services. DiRXN directly connects miners to data and information that allows them to optimize productivity across all stages. Rexnord said this digital unification of product and processes will create a true ecosystem of enhanced value over time as it further innovates deep learning into solutions and partnerships to reshape and enhance Rexnord service levels and business models.

Flexible Coupling Basics
Many different types of flexible couplings are available for use in the pump industry. Each has its own features and benefits, but all are required to perform three primary functions: connect two shafts, transmit rotary power and accommodate shaft misalignment. A document recently released by the Hydraulic Institute outlines pumping industry standard practices to select flexible couplings based on application requirements. Along with basic selection techniques, it reviews the most common styles of couplings found on pump applications across different industries today. It also provides the user with general guidance on the installation and maintenance requirements of each coupling type.

Smart Level-detection Switch
The Gladiator Admittance Smart Switch Series, a state-of-the-art level probe, has been designed to operate in tough industrial environments. It detects the level of liquids, slurries, powders or solids in a tank or vessel. The unit is suitable for a broad range of products and dielectric constants and can operate at temperatures of up to 842°F. The unit measures the capacitance or “admittance” between a probe and the wall of the container. As the level of the product rises to the level of the probe, or drops below that level, the capacitance measured at the probe changes. The Gladiator detects this change and produces an output.

Agility and Technology Meets Iron
Hemisphere GNSS introduced a new application software for high-precision GNSS-based machine control and guidance systems. GradeMetrix is next-generation, core software (optional Windows 10 and Android) designed to empower heavy equipment manufacturers to deliver their own branded machine control and guidance solutions to their customers.
Heavy equipment manufacturers in large part, have had to rely on after-market systems to provide their machine control positioning technology. After-market systems also compete with OEMs creating a lack of brand identity, customizable solutions and integration tools, all of which are essential to facilitating superior system performance.

Flow Switch Protects Pumps
Engineers responsible for industrial water storage, disinfection or effluent treatment systems will find the FlexSwitch FLT93 Flow Switch reduces pump repair and extends pump life by detecting dry running conditions. Industrial wastewater treatment systems in mining applications depend on pumps to move water through storage, disinfection, effluent treatment and delivery. Pumps are expensive to operate and costly to maintain — especially when dry running conditions suddenly occur due to system variable demand, leaks, clogs or other problems that can end up damaging pump seals or bearings. The result can be emergency shutdowns, expensive service interruptions and major pump repairs, overhauls or even full replacement.
