According to the Canadian Press, Coalspur said Ridley will allocate an additional 5 million mtpy of the terminal’s capacity to coal from the new Vista mine being built in Alberta. The company had previously arranged for 8.5 million mtpy of Ridley’s capacity, of which 5 million mt were committed and 3.5 million mt were available to Coalspur under an option. Vista’s output is projected to reach 11.2 million mtpy by 2019. Located near Hinton, Alta., the mine is expected to start producing in 2015.
