According to The Hindu Business Line, an import requirement of 35 million mt of coal has been indicated for the power sector by the Planning Commission. India’s coal production target for 2010-2011 is 572 million mt of which CIL will produce 80% that is, 461 million mt, Singareni Coal Co. 46 million mt and others 66 million mt.
