In general, power providers, coal operators and lawmakers in coal-heavy Appalachia have bitterly condemned such meetings — through proposed legislation and protests in Washington — on grounds the events have skipped the regions most likely to be impacted.
This in one of 11 sessions held nationwide within President Obama’s Climate Action Plan. EPA officials will use feedback from these events to develop new state guidelines for carbon pollution reduction; the notice and comment period will end with a proposal, pending Q2 2014.
