“Cloud Peak is one of our strongest partners,” said Gillette College CEO Mark Englert, who nominated the top miner on behalf of the Northern Wyoming Community College District (NWCCD). “Their support has been invaluable (with) technical assistance, financial support and donations of materials and equipment.”
Dave Traverso, manager, systems at Cloud Peak Energy was happy to accept the award. “Our relationship with Gillette and Sheridan Colleges highlights Cloud Peak Energy’s emphasis on training students for highly-skilled careers,” he said.
ATEA was founded in 1928 to promote post-secondary technical education.
Based in Wyoming, Cloud Peak is a leading U.S. coal producer and the only pure-play Powder River Basin (PRB) miner of low-sulfur, subbituminous coal; with 1,700 employees, it supplies about 4% of the nation’s electricity.
