Dr. Stephen C. Tadolini receives his 2015 Syd S. Peng Ground Control in Mining Award from the honor’s namesake.
Dr. Stephen C. Tadolini has been selected as the 2015 recipient of the Syd S. Peng Ground Control in Mining Award for his long and distinguished career in the field of ground control and roof support as a manager, researcher and business developer.
As a part of the Syd S. Peng Ground Control in Mining Award, an undergraduate and/or graduate scholarships are awarded annually to encourage the development of ground control engineers. The scholarship is a minimum of $5,000. The 2014 scholarships were awarded and the recipients were recognized during the banquet at the Annual Society of Mine Metallurgy and Exploration Meeting held in Denver, Colorado. The 2014 recipients were Mehdi Rajaeebaggy, West Virginia University; Adita Mishra, Southern Illinois University; and Derrico Chambers, University of Utah.
The Kazem Oraee Scholarship for Mining award was awarded at the International Conference on Ground Control in Mining (ICGCM) to Sean Warren. He is working toward his Ph.D. at the University of Nevada, Reno. His research topic is Weak Rock Mass in Nevada Gold Mines: Behavior, Support Design, and Performance.
