This week, DTEK disconnected the Luhanska thermal power plant from Ukraine’s power grid due to constant shelling. Workers were unable to contain a fire that has broken out at the power plant, which has damaged a communications transformer. The company reported damage to buildings and two power generating units due to constant shelling.

Power was rerouted to Schastye and nearby Luhansk settlements through the grid after power plant was taken offline. Employees, who are critically important for the operation of the power plant, have been evacuated to the facility’s bomb shelter.

Luhanska TPP is the largest producer of electricity in Luhansk Region and the only producer of thermal energy for consumers in the city of Schastye. Power supply for all types of consumers depend on the TPP.
