“Despite the staggering number of potential job losses and the ongoing controversy surrounding this rulemaking process, OSM is still pushing to publish this rule during the spring of 2015,” they said in a March 17 letter.

To stop this unnecessary rule from being finalized, NMA is continuing to work with members of Congress to advance legislation and oversight opportunities. Additionally, NMA spoke to half a dozen Washington reporters explaining the controversy of OSM’s failure to work cooperatively with state mining agencies and to provide the transparency the administration has repeatedly promised.
