NSW Orders Operators to Set Aside Coal for Domestic Use

Reuters reported that Australian coal miners must set aside thousands of tons of coal for use by domestic power generators until June 2024 under the New South Wales (NSW) state government’s latest coal reservation policy. Australia’s most-populous state made the move as part of an effort to limit soaring energy prices. Coal sold under the policy will be capped at $125 per metric ton (mt), much lower than market prices.
