Mechel OAO announced a work suspension at the New-Olzherasskaya mine which is a part of Southern Kuzbass OAO. In mid-August, coal self-heating occurred at the production area of the longwall face. The production area has been temporally isolated. The production area is being fed with inert gas and foam, while air samples are taken. The rest of the mine remains in working order. The company can fill orders from stockpiled coal and production from the Olzherasskiy open-pit mine. According to the preliminary estimates, it may take up to six months to resolve the slef-heating problems.
