Owing to the economic crisis, sales dropped by around one-third. OKD plans to extract black coal from the mines near Karvina and Frydek-Mistek, both in northern Moravia, in the next 20 years. OKD mined 10.62 million mt of coal last year, a year-on-year drop of 13%. The plan is to extract 500,000 mt more of coal this year, said Beck.
