Beacon Hill to Begin Coal Production in Mozambique

According to Argus Media, the 4 million mtpy surface mine will produce 760,000 mtpy of coking coal, 1 million mtpy of export thermal coal, and 680,000 mtpy for domestic use. Beacon Hill is securing transport deals to export coal out of the ports of Nacala and Beira and plans to export Mozambique’s first coal shipment in the next few months. Minas Moatize is the only operating coal mine in the country and has a 33 million mt resource.
