According to local news station WYMT, notifications were distributed Monday, February 1 at the Rowdy Gap mine in Perry County, the Job 20 Strip site in Perry County, and the Thunder Ridge operation in Leslie County.

Company officials told the station that no additional layoffs are expected.

Pine Branch Mining, which stretches across three counties in eastern Kentucky, has been owned by Blackhawk Mining since 2012. The Pine Branch operations produce thermal coal for domestic and international utilities.
