The agency published the announcement in the Federal Register on June 3; interested parties now have until October 2 to submit comments in response to its request for information (RFI).
The RFI was first released for input on August 8, 2013 (78 FR 48593).
MSHA said the extension will allow additional time to review research reports and other relevant information that bears on certain issues raised in the RFI.
