Despite slowing demand amid low energy and metallurgical coal prices, Australia’s Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, one of the world’s largest coal ports, continued record 2013 shipments, port officials reported, moving more than 65 million metric tons (mt), eclipsing 2010’s 63 million mt per year (mtpy). With an 85-million-mtpy capacity, 20 million over 2013, the Central Queensland port’s volume was accentuated by increased excavation by Bowen Basin miners, according to representatives.
