Blaschak Coal Corp., one of the nation’s leading producers and suppliers of anthracite coal, has changed its corporate name to Blaschak Anthracite Corp.

“We have always been an anthracite coal company, and we felt it only made sense for our name to reflect that,” CEO Boyd Kreglow said. “Our customers can continue to expect the same high-quality coal from us. However, since there are a variety of other coal options available on the market, we want it to be clear that we offer anthracite — the most environmentally friendly coal.”

Compared with gas, oil and wood, anthracite burns hotter and is a more cost-effective option, according to the company.

Blaschak Anthracite is currently working with four universities on future anthracite uses, including soil enrichment activated carbon for filter systems, graphene and rare earth minerals.
