Tiefenbach Control Systems GmbH has received a follow-up order from China to plan and supply the second complete electrohydraulic control system for the world’s largest roof support system. The order from the roof support manufacturer Zhengzhou Coal Mining Machinery Group Co. Ltd. (ZMJ) has a value of approximately 2.7 million ($3 million) and, in addition to the main hydraulic control system, once again includes all safety-relevant auxiliary valves.

A total of 152 sets of roof supports with a height of 8.8 m and an individual weight of 100 metric tons each will be the second set of the highest roof support ever built in the world. China Shenhua Group purchased the roof supports. Due to the extremely high demands made by the weight and size of the supports, new advanced hydraulic components will be used. The projected lead time is only about three months. The very short delivery time could only be realized in the planning stage, as more than 80% of the installed components are manufactured or processed within the Knapheide Group of companies.

With the award of this contract, the ZMJ Group and Tiefenbach are continuing their extremely successful cooperation of the past years.

This order further expands Teifenbach’s position as market leader for electrohydraulics in Asia. More than 130 longwalls worldwide are now equipped with the electronic and/or hydraulic technology made in Bochum.
