Introduced by EMI-Global to the Alaskan construction, oil and gas, and mining industries in 2005, the technology, designed to reduce idle times on machinery, was estimated to save machinery operators in Prudhoe Bay as much as $560,000 during a single 10-hour shift, solely by reducing idle times.
