The trucks will be delivered in 2010 to mines in the Wyoming Powder River Basin area. Liebherr’s Gillette, Wyo., facility will continue to support Peabody’s mines in the region. One truck will go to Caballo mine, located about 20 miles south of Gillette. The Caballo mine shipped 31 million tons of coal in 2008. Currently, 10 Liebherr trucks operate at this mine site. The remaining 13 trucks will go to the North Antelope Rochelle mine, one of the largest and most productive mines in the world. The mine is located 65 miles south of Gillette and shipped an industry record of 97.5 million tons of compliance coal in 2008. The purchase of the trucks is part of Peabody’s recent investments in world-class equipment to continuously drive productivity while reducing costs.
