CONSOL Energy announced that James C. Grech, executive vice president and chief commercial officer, has retired.

Kiewit promoted four key leaders within its power business. Leading energy projects in North America and Australia, Tom Shelby has been appointed president of Kiewit Energy Group. Since 2004, Shelby has provided senior executive oversight on a wide range of energy projects, including nuclear, gas- and coal-fired plants, as well as refinery facilities and oil extraction projects. Dave Flickinger has been named executive vice president of Kiewit Energy Group. A 23-year Kiewit veteran, Flickinger started his career as a field engineer and quickly gained roles of increasing responsibility, overseeing safety and quality performance, human resources, business development and strategic market leadership. Kevin Needham has been promoted to president of Kiewit Engineering & Design Co. and leads the company’s power markets and strategy group. John Jennings has been promoted to president of Kiewit Power Constructors Co.

Siemens appointed Norbert Becker to head its Mobile Mining business, a subsegment of Siemens in Nuremberg, Germany. Prior to this assignment, he was heading the Siemens mining department in Erlangen, Germany. Christian Discherl will take that position with business responsibility to deliver Siemens products, systems and solutions for mining companies worldwide. In the U.S., Daniel Robertson was promoted to business manager for Mobile Mining in North America.

The Colorado Mining Association has named Stan Dempsey as its next president and COO. He has headed the Colorado Petroleum Association since 1999.

Georgene Robertson, human resources representative at Arch Coal’s Coal-Mac subsidiary, recently was inducted into the Tug Valley Mining Institute (TVMI) Hall of Fame. Robertson has worked in the coal industry for 31 years, 28 of those at Coal-Mac. She has served as a TVMI board member since 2003, and is a past president of the organization.

A.W. Chesterton announced that Andrew W. Chesterton, formerly executive vice president and chairman of the board, has been named the company’s new president and CEO. He succeeds Brian O’Donnell, a longtime Chesterton executive, who will serve as a senior advisor on a variety of projects through the end of the year.

Carl Pollastro was appointed president of Norwest Corp.’s U.S. operations, following the retirement of Bob Evans. Pollastro joined Norwest in the Salt Lake City office in 2009 and worked as senior vice president, engineering/international. Evans retired after 17 years with the company.

Bridgestone Americas announced that Eric Higgs has joined the company as vice president of marketing for its commercial business. Most recently, he was the general manager for the hands and face category at Kimberly-Clark Corp.

Liebherr USA promoted Ana Cabiedes-Uranga to the position of general manager, marketing. Most recently, she was marketing and communications manager for Liebherr Construction Equipment Co.

The National Mining Association (NMA) welcomed Ashley Burke as the mining organization’s senior vice president for communications. Burke was previously global director of communications for Dentons.

Gary Thomas Lilly died on April 5, 2016. He graduated from West Virginia Tech in 1968 earning a degree in civil engineering. He was in Who’s Who for Engineering and his team won an OPAL Award for Outstanding Civil Engineering Achievement in 2006.

Randy Darrell Hansford, 60, of Flat Top Lake, passed away on May 6, 2016. He was born in Mullens, West Virginia. He graduated from West Virginia University with a degree in mining engineering in 1978. He worked as a mining engineer for Westmoreland Coal Co., Maben Energy and Pioneer Fuel Corp. before becoming president of Kingston Resources, and then Riverton Coal Corp. He was also a former chairman of the West Virginia Coal Association.
