CONSOL Energy is currently running all five longwalls at its Pennsylvania Mining Complex (PAMC) and the complex produced 7 million tons during Q1 2023, compared to 6.4 million tons during Q1 2022. This is the first time since Q1 2021 that the PAMC had all five longwalls fully operational and it’s the first time the complex achieved the 7-million-ton production mark in a quarter.
The company also reported a strengthening forward contract book for the PAMC, opportunistically securing an additional 13.5 million tons, all of which are in the export market, for delivery through 2026. CONSOL is near-fully contracted for PAMC for 2023 and the company has 14.7 million tons contracted for 2024.
Progress continues on CONSOL Energy’s Itmann project in West Virginia, as it ramps up to full run-rate production during 2023. The company believes they are past the adverse geological conditions they encountered late last year. They now have two of three continuous miner super sections near-fully operational. Long-term construction work is now 75% complete, and the labor market has begun to improve. Itmann produced 64,000 tons during Q1 2023.
