For example, better days and markets may have had the dubious side effect of validating inefficient processes and technologies at mines. “The mining sector already tended to be old school,” Trey Walters, the founder of a company that makes software that models fluid system dynamics. “It is also the case in developing countries where the engineers have lower labor costs and sometimes less budget to procure the latest technologies.”
