Omnis Global Technologies, a California-based company, recently purchased the Pleasants power plant, located in West Virginia, from Mon Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy. The company said it plans to convert the power plant to run on hydrogen.
According to regional press reports, the company would build a hydrogen plant to fuel the power plant. The company would use ultra-high heat to produce hydrogen and graphite from coal. The graphite byproduct could be used for the production of Li-ion batteries. The plant has been renamed Quantum Pleasants.
