This year’s show is returning to the Brushfork Armory-Civic Center in Bluefield, and has been set for September 16-18. Show hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on September 16 and 17 and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on September 18.

More than 223 vendors were already booked for the Bluefield Coal Show as of June 19, the chamber said, and the list for this year includes about 25 new companies so far.

General Chairman Charles Peters told local media this week that there are “a handful of openings [for exhibitors], but not many.”

The group is also planning a new addition to the schedule, a golf tournament on September 16 at Fincastle on the Mountain, and will also hold its regular events including a media appreciation breakfast and ribbon-cutting the following morning.

The speaker itinerary is still being developed.

“With the challenges being faced by the country’s most dependable energy source, the coal industry must stay united; therefore, the Bluefield Coal Show is the venue to be for the exhibitors, coal industry leaders, engineers, purchasing agents, safety personnel, and the miners,” Peters said.

Off-site parking has again been organized at Mitchell Stadium for attendees; chartered buses will transport groups on a regular basis.
