According to Wyoming Public Media, the company called back its lease by application (LBA) for the Antelope Ridge tracts — which contain about 1 billion tons of coal — last month. They first filed the documents in 2011.

The report said the St. Louis-based miner wasn’t the first to change its mind in 2015; Arch Coal did the same in the state earlier this year.

A Peabody spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment.

The last federal lease auction in Wyoming was held in 2012.
