The AER has issued Vista’s approval under the Environmental Protection and Enhancement Act (Alberta) for the construction, operation and reclamation of Vista, as well as an approval under the province’s Water Act to carry out related activities.

Additionally, the agency issued Coalspur a license under Alberta’s Water Act to operate works and to divert a limited amount of groundwater and surface water annually.

Vista is now only waiting for the final stage of the AER approval process, the issuance of a mineral surface lease (MSL), which is required under the province’s Public Lands Act. The producer has already made an application for the MSL.

Vista, Coalspur’s flagship project, covers approximately 10,000 hectares and neighbors CN Rail’s main line. The miner has already secured a port allocation agreement with Ridley Terminals.
