China’s Greenest Coal-fired Power Station Starts Operation

China’s largest power producer the Huaneng Group put its demonstration integrated gasification combined cycle (IGCC) power station, the most environmentally friendly coal-fired power station in the country, into operation on December 12. The station, the first of its kind with proprietary intellectual property rights in China, has just 10% of a common coal-fired power station’s pollutant emissions and is expected to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions in the future.
