SUEK’s Coal Exports Grow

In its first quarter earnings report, the Siberian Coal & Energy Co. (SUEK) reported first quarter coal sales of 31.9 million metric tons (mt). International shipments increased by 11% to 13.9 million mt. Domestic coal sales rose by 13% to 18 million mt, of which 10.8 million mt were captive sales to Siberian Generating Co.’s (SGC) power plants. SGC reported robust demand amid a colder Russian winter.
