Hundreds of coal processing professionals turned out for the CoalProTec conference, which took place earlier this week in Lexington, Kentucky. Produced by the Coal Preparation Society of America, the three-day conference offers an educational program for mine engineers and prep plant managers. More than 60 suppliers displayed equipment and technology geared toward coal processing.

Alliance Resource Partners President and CEO Joe Craft delivered a keynote address on Tuesday morning. He discussed the difficulties of operating through the COVID-19 pandemic and the exciting rebound the U.S. coal market is currently experiencing. He thanked the people in the audience for the work they do and encouraged them to continue to educate people about the coal business and to try to get the next generation involved in what they do.

Delegates heard presentations from a dozen coal processing professionals that ran the gamut from fine coal processing to tailings disposal area design to recent prep plant expansions. CoalProTec takes place every two years and the event will return to Lexington again in April 2024.
