ZEI, Matec to Develop Automatic Flocculant Dosing System

Zinkan Enterprises, Inc. (ZEI) is working with Matec to provide an automatic system for the preparation, dosing and metering of flocculants. This flocculant metering system consists of a hopper, a metering worm screw-pump and a regulator. Referred to as Bifloc, this system consists of a photocell-based system to control and regulate the flocculant according to the amount of suspended solid particles. This design for monitoring settling time ensures the precise amount of flocculant every time. As a result, the system guarantees a 30-50% average product savings and a return of perfectly clarified water.

Simformotion Announces 2016-2017 Scholarship Opportunity

A leader in heavy equipment simulator training solutions, Simformotion recently announced an academic collegiate scholarship opportunity for the 2016-2017 school year. A $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to a student with an interest in pursuing a career in heavy equipment operation, construction management, mining engineering or any heavy equipment-related program. Students enrolled in an accredited heavy equipment-related program at an institution that uses Cat Simulators as part of their training program, with a minimum GPA of 2.75, are eligible for the scholarship.

Joy Global to Close Pennsylvania Plant

Equipment maker Joy Global has confirmed it will close its Franklin, Pennsylvania, manufacturing plant and lay off its workforce by July 1. Company spokeswoman Caley Clinton said the facility, known as Plant 1, mainly makes drums and performs the fabrication and machining of smaller components. That work, she said, will be transitioned to other Joy Global locations and alliance partners — some immediately, with the remainder moving over the coming months.

The i-ALERT2 Equipment Health Monitor, a system developed by ITT Goulds Pumps, has been named a winner of Processing magazine’s 2015 Breakthrough Products of the Year. Released in May, the system combines the latest in Bluetooth low-energy with sensor technologies commonly used in the newest consumer health and fitness trackers and smart watches. It is the first to successfully integrate these technologies into an industrial package. The device is engineered and rated for use in a wide range of global industrial environments and is capable of continuous equipment health monitoring.
