Construction of Coal of Africa’s (CoAL) Vele project in Limpopo is expected to be completed in the third quarter with sales of coking coal expected thereafter, according to All Africa. Despite opposition from environmental activists, the new order mining right was finalized during April, allowing CoAL to begin development of the Vele project. The Vele project will be devloped in two phases, with the first phase consisting of the establishment of a modular coal-processing plant with the ability to deliver an estimated 1 million metric tons a year of coking coal.
