BHP Billiton formed a new joint venture for its Indonesian Coal Project (ICP) with a subsidiary of PT Adaro Energy TBK following the completion of government approvals. Adaro has acquired a 25% interest in the ICP joint venture, with BHP Billiton holding the remaining 75%.

Czech Republic’s OKD to Make Major Investment in Development PDF Print E-mail

Czech coal-mining firm OKD plans to invest more than $248 million into mining development and purchase of technologies during the next five years, or about $50 million per year, said CEO Klaus-Dieter Beck. Black-coal mining in northern Moravia is planned at least until 2030, Beck said. Last year, OKD’s net profit fell by 85%.

Hunnu Coal has acquired a 60% interest in the Tsohio Coal Project, which is located approximately 40 km south of the company’s Khuree 2 coal project in the Umnugobi Province of Mongolia between the Tavan Tolgoi coking coalfield and South Gobi Energy Resources’ coalfield and 60 km north of Mongolian-Chinese border.
