Brad Phillips has acquired 50% of MineTemp, bringing more than two decades of broad-based mining expertise to the four-year-old contract labor firm. Current owner Mel Triplett will retain the other 50% of the Morgantown-based company as part of the transaction, which closed on April 1, 2010. Phillips, who most recently served as a mine manager for United Coal’s Carter Roag Division, has also worked with ICG and Alpha Natural Resources. MineTemp provides staffing assistance to companies in the mining industry throughout West Virginia. It pre-screens workers, ensuring the quality of the contract employee placed at the mine site. Employees get the chance to make a favorable impression with the mining company and turn the contract position into a full-time job. Eventually the company plans to expand into Pennsylvania and other states.
