Cat to Supply Longwall Systems to Four CONSOL Mines |

CONSOL Energy Inc., the largest underground coal producer in North America, has placed an order for $300 million worth of Cat longwall equipment including more than 1,100 roof supports. In addition to roof supports, four mines in northern Appalachia —Bailey, Bailey Mine Extension (BMX), Robinson Run and Shoemaker—will get two armored face conveyors (AFCs), a shearer and three shield haulers. CONSOL also is equipping all four longwall systems with the Cat PMC-R electro-hydraulic control system for advanced automation and Cat Detect Personnel, a personnel proximity detection system designed to enhance the safety of miners working around longwall systems. Delivery of equipment will be completed in 2013.

Michelin Earthmover is partnering with its dealers and Tech International to launch a Repair Accreditation Program, providing consistent and quality earthmover tire repairs in Michelin’s accredited repair shops. This new program enables end users to get the most value out of their tire investments.
The program will provide dealers with a host of services. These include: training, technical support, inventory control systems, quality repair products and procedures, and traceability systems. Tech International will provide initial training, as well as biannual training on repair methods, product inventory procedures, and quality and traceability systems.

Liebherr to Invest in Newport News Expansion |

Liebherr Mining Equipment will invest $45.4 million to expand its haul truck factory in Newport News, Va. The company established its facilities in Newport News in 1970, and in four decades has grown to become the North American headquarters for four operating companies of the globally leading manufacturer. With this project, the company is making a significant investment in building improvements, machinery, and tools and infrastructure to enhance production of some of the largest mining trucks in the world.
