Pacific Crest Transformers, a leader in the design and construction of liquid-filled distribution transformers, recently launched a new line of rugged small power transformers. The transformers are rated from 5 to 15 megavolt-amperes (MVA) of power. Using disk-wound coils with cruciform miter-cut cores and proprietary 360º cooling ducts. This design significantly improves reliability because it increases the transformer’s capability to handle the axial and radial forces exerted on the transformer during periods of short circuits and heavy loads.
