Before a mine can break ground, it has to demonstrate that it can restore the land. As concerns grow over permitting and surety bonding, reclamation has become an integral part of a modern mine plan.
A successful reclamation program controls drainage properly, complies with state and federal laws, returns the land as quickly as possible, and frees the bond money for new reserves. Technology today has improved to the point where it is making everyone’s job easier, from the mine’s environmental compliance officer to the state inspectors. In some cases, proactive software can alert mine operators to potential problems and they can alleviate the threat of damages much more quickly. |
