Arch Coal’s Skyline & Sufco Mines Earn Utah Earth Day Awards PDF Print E-mail

Arch Coal Inc. announced that Canyon Fuel Co.’s Skyline and Sufco mines have each earned state recognition with a 2013 Earth Day Award for exhibiting outstanding environmental efforts in Utah. The Utah Board of Oil, Gas and Mining (BDOGM) made the selection, and Chairman James Jensen presented the two awards to Skyline and Sufco mines on April 24.

WVCA Hands Out Awards at Symposium PDF Print E-mail

During the West Virginia Coal Association’s (WVCA) 40th Annual West Virginia Mining Symposium, held March 6-8, numerous mining companies were recognized for their commitment to the environment and others for their safety efforts throughout 2012. At the symposium in Charleston, 14 companies received reclamation awards for environmental stewardship and 38 received Mountaineer Guardian Awards for their commitment to safety standards.

Patriot Coal Receives Safety Awards; 2 Units Recognized for Zero Reportable Incidents PDF Print E-mail

Patriot Coal Corp. has received three safety awards from the Coal River Council of the Joseph A. Holmes Safety Association. Awards were presented based on the best safety record in 2012 by size and category of operation. Patriot received awards for the following facilities: Wells preparation plant; Hill Fork surface mine in the Corridor G mining complex; and Matewan Tunnel underground coal transportation corridor in the Rocklick mining complex.

Kemmerer Recognized for Safety by MSHA PDF Print E-mail

Westmoreland Coal Co. officials announced the Kemmerer mine in far southwest Wyoming has been recognized by the Mine Safety and Health Administration with a Certificate of Achievement in Safety for the coal processing facility group completing all of fiscal year 2011 without a single lost work day.
